As well as managing this website, and other activities as a director of Wordsmith Crafts CIC, I also do a variety of activities best described as art.
The most traditional aspect of this is hands on blacksmithing, silversmithing, leatherwork and drawing with pen and ink. I started out around the turn of the millennium to have a go at everything needed to live comfortably 1000 years ago. I’ve worked my way through many of these crafts now, but hitting hot metal is one of the ones I return to frequently. I also combine traditional crafts and materials with modern tools and thoughts. The best example of this would be the applied digital illuminations that I make available to print on demand.
This website, and wider engagement in the digital world of social media could also be considered an expression of my art, as I link people to build community and connect them to their heritage.
